Accessible enjoyment of films during FILMKUNSTFEST MV

At the information counter at the Filmpalast Capitol multiplex there are tactile site maps available by which visually impaired visitors may orient themselves within the festival cinema. These high-contrast maps depict corridors and rooms as palpable black lines and stairs as several lines. Different areas have a different surface texture. Symbols, pictogrammes and texts are also palpable.

For several years by now, FILMKUNSTFEST MV has provided audio-gain devices for hearing-impaired festival visitors as part of a co-operation with the "Haus der Begegnung Schwerin" (engl. Schwerin Centre for Encounter) association. Additionally, the cutting-edge CinemaConnect system manufactured by the renowned Sennheiser audio company allows visually impaired audience members to experience the screenings at the Filmpalast Capitol with an audio description by conveniently using their own smartphone onto which they just install a special app available for both iOS and Android.

The visitors access the additional sound tracks providing the respective voice-overs and audio gains by means of headphones and via both the CinemaConnect app and the wifi network particularly made available for this purpose. Hearing-impaired audience members may adapt the voice intelligibility, the sound as well as the volume in the corresponding and particularly user-friendly app according to their personal needs.

Furthermore, hearing-impaired audience members may additionally benefit from German subtitles several films are provided with, e.g. pictures in the Focus Baltic Sea section.
